App Store QR code generator
This App Store QR code generator turns your app's apps.apple.com link into a code shoppers scan to open your listing. Only the listing link goes in, so one wrong character is the only thing that can break it.
type to generate
Scan it once from the screen before you print a batch. Keep it 2 cm or larger on paper, and leave the white margin around it.
Do more with it
Same code, more placesSave this design - colors, corners, logo and frame - and put it on any code later. Saved in this browser.
One value per line, or paste a CSV. With two columns the first is the file name and the second is the value. Every code uses the design you set up above.
Lay the code out on an A4 page with cut marks, ready for the printer or a label sheet.
What's actually inside an App Store QR code link
An App Store QR code only ever holds one thing: the link to your app's listing, exactly as Apple wrote it. Get that link right and the code just works; get one character wrong in it and it opens the wrong app, or nothing.
Below: what the link is built from, which part of it actually matters, and what happens on an iPhone the moment it is scanned.
Paste the right link for an App Store QR code
Use the Copy Link option on your app's page (or App Store Connect) rather than retyping it - it hands you the full apps.apple.com address in one go. Only one part of that address is actually looked up, shown here.
- https://apps.apple.com/ the App Store's own domain; older itunes.apple.com links still redirect here.
- us/ the storefront code - each visitor is routed to their own country's storefront automatically, so this rarely needs to match theirs.
- app/bloom-timer/ the app's name written in for readability; it is not looked up.
- id6708192837 the numeric App ID - the part that is actually looked up, so apps.apple.com/app/id6708192837 alone opens the same listing.
Why an iOS app QR code has to be the exact link
One wrong digit in the App ID sends people to a different app or a dead page, so paste rather than retype it. On an iPhone, an apps.apple.com link opens straight in the App Store app rather than a browser tab, so the scan-to-install step is a single jump.
From link to install: how an Apple App Store QR code works
- You paste https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bloom-timer/id6708192837
- The code stores that exact link and nothing else
- The iPhone does opens the App Store app straight to your listing

App Store QR code questions
Not much. The App Store already routes each visitor to their own storefront, so it is the numeric App ID that has to be right.
It still works - Apple's own redirect sends it on to the matching apps.apple.com page.
Any camera can read the code, but the link only opens something useful on a device with the App Store - print a Google Play code alongside it for Android users.
Yes. An update keeps the same App ID and link; only relisting the app under a new listing would need a new code.
Yes, with a dynamic code - change the destination in your account, for example to a new listing, and the printed code follows it.
