X QR code generator for your profile
This X QR code generator turns your username into a code that opens your profile with one scan - the same generator people still search for as a Twitter QR code. Type the username with or without the @ and the link is built on x.com.
type to generate
Scan it once from the screen before you print a batch. Keep it 2 cm or larger on paper, and leave the white margin around it.
Do more with it
Same code, more placesSave this design - colors, corners, logo and frame - and put it on any code later. Saved in this browser.
One value per line, or paste a CSV. With two columns the first is the file name and the second is the value. Every code uses the design you set up above.
Lay the code out on an A4 page with cut marks, ready for the printer or a label sheet.
Getting your profile into one scan
X QR code is the current name for what was a Twitter QR code for years - the site changed names, the generator didn't, and neither did the username rules underneath it. Type a username, get a code, done.
From username to a working twitter profile QR code
Type your username with or without the @ - the generator strips it either way - and it builds a link on x.com, the platform's current domain. Old twitter.com links you may already have printed or saved still work; scanning either one lands on the same profile. The link opens the profile itself, not a single post or a direct message - for one tweet, use that tweet's own link instead of your handle.
- You type rowanvale
- Code stores https://x.com/rowanvale
- Phone does Opens the profile in the X app or a browser tab
Username rules that decide what fits
X keeps the same username rules Twitter always used, so a handle that worked before the rename still works now.
| Rule | What X allows |
|---|---|
| Length | Up to 15 characters |
| Characters | Letters, numbers and underscores only - no spaces, hyphens or periods |
| All-numeric | Not allowed - a username can't be only numbers |
| Reserved words | Names containing X or Admin can't be claimed |
| Uniqueness | One account per username, and it's not case-sensitive - Rowan and rowan can't both be taken |
Putting an X QR code to work
-
Make the code
Enter your username, pick a colour or add a logo if you like, then download it as PNG or SVG.
-
Check it
Scan the download with a second phone before it goes anywhere permanent - a stray space in the username is the usual culprit when it opens the wrong page.
-
Put it where the conversation already is
A panel discussion slide, a press badge, or the corner of a poster works better than a page nobody scrolls to the bottom of.
https://x.com/@rowanvale
https://x.com/rowanvale
Keeping the @ from a handle you copied doubles it up in the link, and the profile fails to load.

X and Twitter QR code questions
Yes - X is the renamed Twitter, the username rules didn't change, and this generator builds an x.com link either way.
No - the generator drops a leading @ either way, then builds the link on x.com.
Yes - anyone can make a code for any public username, the same as sharing that profile's link any other way.
It breaks, because the link was built from the old username. Make a new code after a username change, or use a dynamic code so the printed version doesn't need reprinting.
Whichever the phone defaults to - most phones open x.com in a browser first and then offer to continue in the app if it's installed.
